On Minister Giulio Terzi’s instructions, Ambassador of Italy to Tripoli Giuseppe Buccino met with President with the Libyan National Congress Mohamed El-Mgarief to express appreciation for this latter’s statements in the interests of ending the clashes in Beni Walid, where the situation remains alarming.
Mgarief thanked the ambassador for the message from Minister Terzi, who is expected soon in Tripoli, and informed him of the arrest in Bani Walid of several members of Gaddafi loyalist groups, including the Libyan dictator’s former spokesperson Mussa Ibrahim.
Buccino thanked President Mgarief for the very cooperative role of the Libyan authorities in securing the immediate release of some Italian fishing boats detained in Benghazi, expressing his hopes in their rapid return to Italy.
