Minister Gentiloni meets the Heads of Mission of Asian countries belonging to UNESCAP

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni today met the Group of Heads of Mission of Asian countries belonging to UNESCAP  – UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.

The group includes the ambassadors of Bangladesh – which has chaired the group since 2015 – Afghanistan, Australia, China, South Korea, Philippines, Japan – which hosted the meeting – India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Thailand.

The Minister spoke to the heads of mission about the Government’s work on the main current issues in Europe and the Mediterranean area, particularly the fight against Daesh and terrorism, managing the migration emergency and stabilising Libya. Mr Gentiloni pointed out that maintaining a political dialogue with countries in the area, on bilateral matters and in the context of dialogue and cooperation forums between Asia and Europe, is a priority for Italy.
