“I am deeply grieved by what happened today in eastern Ukraine, where an OSCE monitor was killed and two others were wounded near Luhansk. Italy expresses its firm condemnation of any act of violence,” said Angelino Alfano, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. “To the family of the victim, to his loved ones and his colleagues, I convey our warmest solidarity. To the people injured, we address our wishes for a quick recovery. OSCE monitors work tirelessly to promote peace and carry out very delicate tasks. It is also for these reasons that OSCE missions should be allowed to operate, since it is in the interest of all the players on the ground,” Minister Alfano added.
