Bahrain hosted the fifth meeting of the Political Advisory Group of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI), which brings together Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in a regional partnership format with the North Atlantic Alliance.
The meeting, opened by the Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, was also attended by NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Javier Colomina.
For Italy, the Italian Ambassador to Bahrain, Paola Amadei, the Head of the Office for NATO and Security and Politico-Military Strategy Issues of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alessandro Cattaneo, and Fabiana De Luca of the Permanent Representation of Italy to NATO, attended the meeting.
The event was divided into various thematic sessions in which the priority areas of cooperation between NATO and ICI partners were analysed, with the aim of stimulating a reflection on how to further deepen the framework of practical cooperation and the political dialogue between NATO and ICI countries.
