PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE – FOOD FOR GAZA
FARNESINA – 11 MARCH 2024, 6:30 p.m.
Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will meet with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, WFP Executive Director Cindy H. McCain and the Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Jagan Chapagain on Monday 11 March 2024, at 6:00 p.m., to launch the “Food for Gaza” initiative.
The meeting will be followed by a press point held in the Sala Mosaici at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Farnesina).
Since the beginning of the conflict, Italy has been at the forefront in providing humanitarian assistance to the population of Gaza, delivering relief goods and giving assistance to people in need of medical assistance, including minors and their families. The “Food for Gaza” initiative, led by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the FAO, WFP and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), is aimed at facilitating access to food aid, alleviating the suffering of the population and ensuring food security in the Gaza Strip.
The press point will be streamed.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen interested in attending the press point may apply for accreditation by sending a request by Monday 11 March at 12:00 p.m. to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it (tel. 06 3691 3432 – 8573 or 3078), attaching the following:
For representatives of Italian press organisations:
- copy of an identity document
- letter of assignment from the newspaper of affiliation or – in the absence of the latter – copy of professional identity card.
For representatives of foreign press organisations, not accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
- copy of an identity document;
- letter from the newspaper of affiliation;
- Verbal note of the Embassy in Rome of the country of the press organisation represented.
For representatives of foreign press already accredited at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the request must be sent with a copy of an identity document attached.
Accredited journalists, photographers and cameramen may enter the Farnesina from the main entrance, left side, from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. on 11 March.
