***
On Thursday, 28 November 2024, from 04:00 p.m. to 04:30 p.m., a press point will be held at the Embassy of Switzerland in Italy to present the seventh edition of the Forum for Dialogue between Switzerland and Italy, an initiative aimed at strengthening the already intensive exchange of ideas between the two countries. The joint press point will be opened by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani and Swiss Federal Councillor and head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Ignazio Cassis. Besides the distinguished Ministers, participants in the Forum will include the President of the Council of State of the Canton of Ticino Christian Vitta, heading a cantonal delegation, and, as keynote speaker, Professor Günther Dissertori, Rector of the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, one of the best universities in the world. The initiative is promoted by the Embassy of Switzerland in Italy, the Embassy of Italy in Switzerland and the geopolitical magazine Limes – Rivista Italiana di Geopolitica, under the auspices of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

In a period marked by many unfolding crises, the world is being challenged by de-globalisation, increasing fragmentation and momentous challenges such as climate change. In this context, Italy and Switzerland have a duty to strengthen common reflection, working on geographical and cultural proximity. During the Forum for Dialogue, representatives from the worlds of politics, business, culture and science will explore in particular the theme of innovation at the service of life, an area in which both countries excel and which will significantly shape the existence of future generations. Switzerland and Italy also share a common language, a border and numerous human, cultural, political and economic ties. Trade between the two countries exceeds CHF 57 billion per year. Italy is also Switzerland’s third largest trading partner and its third largest export market. For more information please refer to the attached press release.
