New medical evacuation flight from the Gaza Strip arrives in Italy

A new humanitarian medical evacuation operation from the Gaza Strip began yesterday. The operation is part of the ongoing medical evacuation efforts, the most recent of which took place last March, carried out under the initiative of the Italian government.

The mission was coordinated by the Civil Protection Department, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem, the Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv, and the Joint Operations Command (COVI).

The transfer was carried out using two military aircraft of the Italian Air Force, scheduled to arrive in Israel at Ramon Airport on Wednesday. Personnel from the Italian Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Unit oversaw all aspects of the humanitarian flight in close coordination with local diplomatic and consular staff.

At the end of the operation, the children and their accompanying adults will be distributed among public hospitals across the national territory, selected based on their specific medical needs.

With this new mission, the total number of people medically evacuated from the Strip since the beginning of 2024 rises to 393, including 133 minors.
