June in Prague kicked off with a celebration of Italian music and dance, featured in the rich summer programme of the Italian Cultural Institute. As part of the international contemporary dance festival Tanec Praha, held at the Ponec Theatre, choreographer and director Simone Sandroni presented a new production: “Let there be the light”.
Following this, the Institute became one of the stops of the capital’s largest street arts festival, Praha žije hudbou, with the Italian marching band Takabum performing in the courtyard of the Institute. In mid-June, it was the turn of guitarist, composer, and instrument maker Paolo Angeli and the Tenore Murales de Orgosolo, who, in collaboration with the Institute, performed on Štvanice Island as part of the 28th edition of the Respect Festival, the Czech Republic’s premier world music showcase. Subsequently, the show R.OSA by Silvia Gribaudi, featuring a performance by Claudia A. Marsicano, premiered.
On Music Day, the series “Summer in Music at the Italian Cultural Institute” began, offering a programme of concerts spanning various musical genres.
The season closed in grand style with a piano duo concert by Monica Leone and Michele Campanella, performing a programme for two pianos at the city’s Conservatory.
“With the arrival of summer, we devised a programme full of music, rhythm and energy, to be enjoyed also in the splendid outdoor spaces of our Institute,” concluded Marialuisa Pappalardo, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Prague. “For the first time, the Institute is a stop on the prestigious Praha žije hudbou street arts festival; we are present at Tanec Praha and the Respect Festival: thanks to these collaborations, we are proud to be an integral part of the city’s vibrant cultural scene”.
