PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
Arrival in Italy of Palestinian children from the Gaza Strip
(Ciampino Military Airport, 13 August 2025)
On Wednesday 13 August 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., a flight carrying a group of Palestinian children evacuated from the Gaza Strip to receive medical treatment in Italy will land at Rome–Ciampino Military Airport.
This is the largest medical evacuation operation carried out since January 2024. The humanitarian convoy comprises three special flights made available by the Italian Air Force, transporting to Italy over 30 minors accompanied by their family members, for a total of nearly 120 people. In addition to Ciampino, young patients will also arrive at Milan Linate and Pisa airports, before being transferred to healthcare facilities across the country where they will receive the necessary treatment.
The operation is coordinated by the Office of the Prime Minister, through cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Civil Protection Department, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Civil Protection Mechanism. The operation expands Italy’s humanitarian efforts for the civilian population of the Gaza Strip to include medical and healthcare assistance, as part of the Food for Gaza project.
With this latest medical evacuation, the number of children from Gaza and their relatives received in Italy exceeds 180 (totalling 580 people). Italy thus confirms its position as the fourth country in the world – and the first among Western nations – to have organised the evacuation and transfer of patients from the Gaza Strip to specialised hospitals.
Journalists, photographers and cameramen wishing to cover the arrival are invited to apply for accreditation by sending their request—including full name, place and date of birth, telephone number, a copy of their ID, and professional identity card—to accreditamentostampa@esteri.it by 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 13 August 2025.
Those intending to park their vehicle within the airport (military zone) are also requested to provide the make and registration number of the vehicle to the above address.
Accredited media representatives must be present at Ciampino Military Airport at 6:45 p.m.
