Minister Tajani on Ukrainian Independence Day

On the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, reaffirms Italy’s full support for Kyiv in achieving a just and lasting peace, in full respect of Ukrainian sovereignty and in close coordination with the United States and European partners.

In tthis regard, Tajani will participate in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ virtual meeting, convened by the Canadian Presidency at 2:00 PM today. This will also serve as an opportunity to take stock of the follow-up from the Leaders’ meeting in Washington on August 18 and to discuss the prospects for peace in Ukraine.

For the occasion, the Minister has instructed that the façade of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Farnesina) be illuminated.

“Today, we pay tribute to the strength and courage of the Ukrainian people and army, who have been steadfastly defending their independence, freedom, and national identity for over three years. We also show our solidarity by illuminating the façade of the Farnesina in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, just as the Colosseum will do, as a demonstration of the closeness of the Italian people and institutions to our Ukrainian friends,” the Minister commented.
