USA: Employment growing but less than expected
The recent labour market figures are, on the whole, positive. Unemployment has fallen from 7% to 6.7% and the number of people in search of work is also down. However, the growth in the number of jobs is slowing. In December 2013, the Establishment Survey reported the number of jobs in the non-agricultural sector to be up by 74,000, compared with 241,000 in November – and much less than the expected 196,000. The numbers in work increased by 87,000 in the private sector, compared with a fall of 13,000 in the public sector. Source: infoMercatiEsteri.
