DEI/Sole 24 Ore – 18 September: Latest World News. Florence and Tuscany counting on partnership with Shanghai

A delegation from the Florence city council, led by the councilwoman for Education, European Funds and University, Christina Giachi made a mission to Shanghai, where the various projects announced included:


– the creation of a Chinese-Italian design centre to be located in Florence’s Palazzo Strozzi


– the launch of a Chinese-Italian Design Exchange Centre also to be located in Florence’s Palazzo Strozzi


– the opening of a centre for Italo-Chinese textiles research in Prato


The delegation also organised an investment workshop involving hundreds of potential Chinese investors interested in a variety of sectors. The delegation was made up of 20 Florentine business persons, architects and academics.

Pirelli: search for foreign partners in a steelcord partnership continues


Pirelli entered the second phase in its search for partners, with at least four contenders for a partnership agreement with the group on the production of “steelcord” a product used in the making of tyres: Korea’s Hyosung, Belgium’s Bekaert, the One Equity Partners fund (a private equity branch of JPMorgan) and Unitas Capital.

The German holding company Halder, founded in 1991, completed an MBO/MBI operation on Bottega Manifatturiera Borse, Italian producer of luxury leather items.

Somalia:Italy to call a UN meeting to support government programme


“We continue efforts to convince the international community to sustain the development of Somalia and have decided to call a meeting with other countries, along with the UN, in the margins of the inaugural session of the UN General Assembly in New York, precisely in order to maintain and confirm the international community’s commitments on behalf” of Mogadishu, commented Premier Enrico LEtta at the end of a meeting with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

EU: Tuscany and Lombardy first in Europe for fashion


With 11,000 firms each, the regions of Tuscany and Lombardy are the top European regions for fashion production. Third place goes to Norte in Portugal, with 10,000 sector producers, and 4th to Greece’s Attica with its 8,000, nearly on a par with France’s Ile.
