NEW YORK – “Barrique: the third life of wood” showcases design by San Patrignano

The young people of the San Patrignano rehabilitation centre have been working with world-famous architects on a project of high social and symbolic value: “Barrique: The Third Life of Wood”. The exhibition, now running in New York, showcases furniture and decor conceived by renowned architects and designers and produced by the San Patrignano community. The young people use wood reclaimed from wine barrels donated by Italian producers or used by the community itself in its wine production.

The exhibition is part of the “2013 Year of Italian Culture in the United States” programme. As the Italian Consul General in New York, Natalia Quintavalle, pointed out, it highlights the other side of Italian culture, with social enterprise and philanthropy meeting design and craftsmanship of the highest quality.
