The Italian Cultural Institute of Tokyo yesterday hosted the seminar “Italy and Japan: Space Cooperation Frontiers”, centred on the cooperative partnership that has been developing over recent years in the sectors of the use of the International Space Station (ISS), earth observation for monitoring natural disasters and space science. Considering that the two countries are at similar risk of earthquakes, the satellite monitoring of natural disasters represents a point of strong mutual interest. The seminar was part of the events of the “Italy in Japan 2013” programme, and it offered the setting for the signing of the Tenth Executive Programme of the Bilateral Science and Technology Accord.
