During the mission to New York, the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Maria Tripodi, co-chaired the high-level event organised by Italy and the Philippines on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda.
“The current fragmentation of the security environment requires concrete actions in support of female leadership: the values and objectives of the Agenda are a shared responsibility”, Tripodi explained, inviting other members of the Network to run for co-presidency in 2027, reaffirming that the complexity of the international framework makes it all the more important to continue the efforts made so far.
On behalf of Minister Tajani, the Undersecretary also spoke at the third EU-CELAC Ministerial Meeting, stressing the common values between Europe and Latin American and Caribbean countries and the opportunities to further strengthen the economic partnership. Following this, Tripodi participated in the side event at the United Nations: OceanEye, the International Alliance to support GOOS, and spoke at “Seizing the AI opportunity”, stressing that digital innovation is now a fundamental pillar of national security, global stability and technological sovereignty.
Subsequently, Tripodi participated in the signing ceremony of the two pilot projects of the Team Gaza Initiative, dedicated to the recovery of waste management services and water and sanitation services in the Gaza Strip, carried out by UNDP and UNICEF. On the sidelines, the Undersecretary held a constructive conversation with the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohamed al-Khulaifi, where developments in regional crises and cooperative relations between the two countries were discussed.
