PRESS ACCREDITATION NOTE
Event for launching the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World

“Lingua geniale: ideare, progettare, creare con l’italiano”
(Foreign Ministry, 8 October 2026)

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, the event for launching the 26th  “Week of the Italian Language in the World” – the most important initiative dedicated to celebrating the Italian language globally – will be held at the Foreign Ministry’s International Conference Hall.

This year’s edition is dedicated to the theme “Lingua geniale: ideare, progettare, creare con l’italiano” (Brilliant Language: Conceiving, Designing, and Creating with Italian). This topic highlights that our language is not only the heir to a long history and tradition but also a vehicle for Italian know-how – a hallmark of quality recognized and appreciated worldwide. Furthermore, the theme aims to underscore the intrinsic link between growth and culture, emphasizing that the Italian language and the Italian-speaking are strategic tools for economic growth and means for projecting a dynamic, innovative image of our country abroad.

Speakers at the event will include, among others, Andrea Riccardi, President of the Dante Alighieri Society; astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, and champion athlete Arianna Fontana.

Following the institutional session, the proceedings will continue with three thematic panels:

  • “Conceiving with Italian: the Language of Science, Sport, and Innovation”;
  • “Designing with Italian: the Language of Design, Fashion, and Cuisine”;
  • “Creating with Italian: the Language of Art, Music, and Literature.”
