Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani will be in Reggio Calabria tomorrow to attend the institutional session of the Conference of Scientific and Space Attachés and Agricultural Experts, scheduled for 12 noon at the Teatro Comunale Cilea.
The conference began on 3 November with panel discussions on artificial intelligence and science diplomacy, followed by visits to sites of industrial excellence in the region. Among the topics discussed were the contribution of science to agriculture and the internationalisation of innovative supply chains. The first meeting of the presidents of associations of Italian researchers around the world also took place today, marking the first event of its kind to be organised in Italy.
The Conference is an annual event organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the aim of highlighting the role of the 67 attachés – 47 scientific, 6 space-related and 14 agricultural experts – who work abroad at diplomatic missions. The network of scientific attachés, in particular, is one of the key tools supporting growth diplomacy, helping to strengthen scientific and technological cooperation and promoting the internationalisation of Italian research. Reggio Calabria has been chosen as the venue for this year’s event, building on the success of the 2025 Conference in Naples and the ‘Export Focus: Enterprises and Territories of Southern Italy’ event, which took place in Bari last June.
