In the context of regular contact with the Italian Embassies in European countries, this afternoon Undersecretary Ivan Scalfarotto chaired a meeting with the Italian Ambassadors accredited in Central and Eastern European countries, an area which, particularly during COVID emergency, proved to be of strategic importance for our country.
“This discussion” – the Undersecretary observed – “takes place at a time of general loosening of the lockdown while we are witnessing a progressive resumption of activities and the first signs of reopening of the borders. It is essential to continue to work together with the whole Italian system to implement strategies to relaunch bilateral economic relations with our European partners, including the tourism sector”. During the debate, particular attention was paid by Scalfarotto to the issue of respect for the rule of law and civil liberties in Poland and Hungary.
