New York – Journalists gather at ‘Meet the New Italians in NY”

Journalism will have the lion’s share at the upcoming event “Meet the New Italians in New York”. Tomorrow the Italian Consulate General in the Big Apple will host Liliana Faccioli Pintozzi from SkyTG24 (Tbc news), Mario Platero from Il Sole 24 Ore, Massimo Gaggi from Corriere della Sera, Silvia Berzoni from Class CNBC and James Fontanella from the Financial Times. The event will give young journalists-to-be a precious opportunity to come face to face with well-known professionals working as Italian correspondents or writing for the international press in NYC. The meeting, organised with the support of i-Italy, will be attended by Davide Mancini, a young journalist who created, together with Fabio Capoferri, Vox Pop, a digital tool to collect video-opinions from anyone connected to the web.

“Meet the New Italians in New York”

Davide will tell of the birth of his start-up, which was awarded a prize by Vice Media, Knight Foundation and City University of New York. The “Meet the New Italians of New York” project has been promoted by the Italian Consulate General and seeks to attract the new generation of Italians, facilitating their participation in the activities of the institutions promoting Italy and acquainting them with the generations of Italians who have succeeded in America. Thanks to the series of meetings, the Italian Consulate General is to become a point of reference during their integration process and a place to meet and discuss ideas. Mentoring is the chosen method, offering interaction with those people who, in similar conditions, arrived in the United States and managed to become successful in a city as complex as New York. Following the interesting conversation of “Meet the New Italian Doctors of New York” between young researchers and would-be Italian doctors in New York, the programme will continue with events devoted to finance, arts, architecture, fashion, restaurant catering and sports.
