Foreign Investment in Italy – An overview of the Italian Labour Law

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation hosted a seminar today entitled “Foreign Investment in Italy – An overview of Italian Labour Law”, with a special focus on Chinese investments.As Italy’s Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Benedetto Della Vedova, said in his opening remarks, foreign investment is key to supporting economic growth in an ever more globalized world. This is especially true for Italy, where there is a strong complementarity between excellence and technological innovation of Italian companies and foreign capital. Foreign partners give financial solidity to Italian businesses and are familiar with markets that often are difficult to penetrate. They can also count on a highly developed knowledge network, and in many cases a well-structured distribution capacity. The first guide to Italian Labour Law in Chinese was presented at the seminar. “Il diritto del lavoro italiano in pillole” (An overview of the Italian Labour Law) is the title of the guide which was compiled by the law firms Ichino Brugnatelli & Associati and Giovannelli & Associati. It will be a useful tool for Chinese economic operators that interface with the Italian labour law, thus making a concrete contribution to intensifying economic cooperation between Italy and China.   Addresses were delivered by Senator Pietro Ichino, a member of the Standing Labour and Social Security Committee, MP Vinicio Peluffo, Chairman of Italy’s “Friends of China” parliamentary association, and Li Ruiyu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Italy.
