Madrid’s Italian Cultural Institute, under the patronage of the Italian Embassy, is a contributor to the 8th edition of the Pamplona Negra Festival running from 17 to 22 January at the Baluarte Conference Centre and Auditorium of Navarre. With Italy and the Italian publishing industry ranking as this year’s key theme, the focus of this year’s six-day festival, entitled C’era una volta…il giallo (Once Upon a Time… in Crime Novels), is Mediterranean crime writing and novels.

The event’s roundtables will be attended by some of Italy’s foremost crime novelists, including Marcello Fois, Antonella Lattanzi and Massimo Carlotto and such Spanish counterparts as Arantza Portabales, María Oruña, Carlos Zanón, Lorena Franco and Santiago Díaz.

The Festival, whose social media initiatives will include meetings and prize awards, will also feature the screening of several films by Italian directors Francesco Rosi – marking his birthday centenary – and Elio Petri. The event is promoted by the Government of Navarre’s Directorate-General for Culture and is hosted by the Baluarte Conference Centre and Auditorium of Navarre – NICDO and Filmoteca.
