Minister for Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino received Mrs. Alma Shalabayeva today in Rome along with her children Alua, Madina and Aldyiar. Mrs. Shalabayeva expressed her sincere gratitude for the commitment Minister Bonino and the foreign ministry maintained over recent months that restored freedom of movement to her and her youngest daughter Alua.
“I was very pleased to be able to share the joy that Mrs. Shalabayeva and her daughter felt on returning to Rome. Back in the beginning of June this outcome was almost impossible to imagine, but we succeeded thanks to the determined and continuous efforts of the government and parliamentary forces. The departure of Mrs. Shalabayeva and Alua from Kazakhstan was made possible also thanks to the collaboration of the Kazakh authorities during the final stage”. With these words Minister Bonino commented on her very pleasant meeting today in Rome.
