The Foreign Ministry has decided to grant its patronage to the 26th Winter Universiade, which will be held in Trentino region from 11 to 21 December 2013. Minister Bonino is a member of the Committee of Honour. The Farnesina’s involvement was confirmed today, when the event was presented to the Foreign Press Association in Rome.
The Foreign Ministry’s convinced support for the 2013 Winter Universiade is further evidence of its close interest in major sports events. Such events act as a vehicle for peace and mutual tolerance and are a valuable opportunity for friendship between students of different countries.
The Universiade is also an important opportunity to enhance Italy’s image and its ability to organise major events. It also acts as a showcase for business and investment opportunities in Italy, while making full and optimal use of the country’s regional system.
As testimony to the Foreign Ministry’s keen interest in the event, the Universiade torch will visit the Farnesina during its tour of the country.
