The Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo organized a seminar on “Architects’ travel. Routes, connections and resonances between Italy and Norway in the 20th – 21st centuries”. Architect Antonello Alici (Università Politecnica delle Marche) will be the protagonist of the event.

The travels of artists and architects, as a direct experience of a place, have proved to be a long-lasting vehicle of culture through the resonances recorded in diaries, sketches, watercolours, photographs, and reported in conferences and publications. Their travels thus become a lens to read the relations and connections between North and South, so as to follow the changing sensibility in the search for identity and modern expressions.

The seminar aims at recalling a dense history of travels in both directions, focusing on Italy and Norway through a selection of key figures as well as cities and works as a red line connecting the two architectural cultures. The event will take place in the premises of the Institute and also aims at promoting a new season of relations between the two countries through a series of dialogues among architects and critics aimed at understanding the evolution of the role of architecture in today’s society.
