To mark “Italian Research Day” the Embassy of Italy in Brasilia organised a virtual seminar entitled “The Italian contribution to earth science in Brazil”.
Brazil has a significant Italian scientific community which in certain subject areas, such as earth science, has achieved valuable results at the international level. The seminar, which was organised in conjunction with the Association of Italian Researchers in Brazil and took place on 29 April 2022, involved Italian and Brazilian academics and researchers. It was an opportunity for them to further develop their dialogue on important aspects of the geology of this South American country.
One topic they addressed was the issue of climate change and its repercussions on oceanic circulation in the southern Atlantic. Another was the strategic nature of Brazil’s mineral and gemmological reserves, including for the ecological transition.
