On Minister for Foreign Affairs Giulio Terzi’s instructions, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Giampiero Massolo met today with Ambassador of India to Rome Debabrata Saha to discuss the case involving crew members of the Italian ship “Enrica Lexie”. During the meeting Massolo Massolo delivered a letter from Minister Terzi addressed to his Indian colleague S.M. Krishna underscoring the need for close collaboration on the affair within the framework of Italy and India’s excellent relations.
In extending his condolences for the death of the two Indian citizens involved, Ambassador Massolo expressed Italy’s complete willingness and pledge to work rapidly, in collaboration with the Italian authorities, to shed light on the incident. Massolo and Saha reviewed various possible ways to collaborate, including Italy’s willingness to send a mission of high Foreign Affairs, Justice and Defence Ministry officials to India for a joint examination of all aspects of the case
