Mission of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, to Munich

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, will be in Munich (Germany) as of today, Saturday 18 February 2023, to take part in the works of the 59th Munich Security Conference (MSC).

Deputy Prime Minister Tajani will speak during the session dedicated to the international role and strategic sovereignty of the European Union, scheduled for the morning of 19 February. On the sidelines of the works, he will take part in a G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the first organised by the Japanese Presidency, which shall deal mainly with the situation in Ukraine. Deputy Prime Minister Tajani will also have a series of bilateral meetings with key international allies and partners, and with the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol.

The main foreign policy and security challenges shall be the focus of the Munich Conference, which will be attended by numerous Heads of State and Government, Ministers and representatives of international organisations, civil society, the private sector and the media. Almost a year after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Conference will provide the opportunity to discuss the cohesion of the international community and the political commitment to support a rules-based world order.
