Italian Design Day 2023 - Kosovo

To mark the 2023 Italian Design Day, the Italian Embassy in Kosovo and the University of Pristina will host a round table with students from the Faculty of Architecture and Engineering, as well as with professionals from the sector. Matilde Cassani, architect, designer and lecturer at NABA (New Academy of Fine Arts) in Milan and at the Architectural Association School (AA School) in London, will debate with them on the theme of this year’s event – “Enlightening quality. The energy of design for people and environment”.

The event is scheduled for 16 March in the Modellarium hall of the Faculty of Architecture in Pristina. Italian Ambassador Antonello De Riu, the Mayor of Pristina and fellow architect Përparim Rama, and the Dean of the Faculty, Violeta Nushi, will also participate.

“The theme of Italian Design Day, which we will discuss together with the students of Architecture and Engineering and our guest speaker, seeks to address issues of great impact for the future of the planet”. As Ambassador De Riu underlines, “Einstein stated that creativity is born from anguish just like the day is born from the dark night, and that it is in the crisis that inventiveness, discoveries and great strategies emerge. Italian design, with its mental and productive energy, wants to contribute to bringing light at a time when shadows seem to prevail by using its most characteristic asset: quality, understood not as a luxury but as a factor of innovation, of sustainable and responsible development. The traces of Italian quality are increasingly being found in Kosovo as well, thanks to the contribution of the academy and the dynamism of numerous local entrepreneurs, especially in the furniture sector”.

Also as part of the 2023 Italian Design Day, a number of “Made in Italy” promotional activities are being organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA/ICE) up to 19 March.
