Helsinki: Futurism exhibition opens

An exhibition entitled “New Art – Speed, Danger, Defiance – Italian Futurism 1909-1944” has opened in Helsinki, with support from the Italian Foreign Ministry. The show, the biggest Futurism retrospective ever staged in Scandinavia or Finland, is hosted by the Espoo Museum of Modern Arts (EMMA) as part of the Helsinki World Design Capital 2012 season of events.

The exhibition includes 160 works by 52 artists. It was curated by Marco Ancora and Giancarlo Carpi, with the collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institute in Helsinki (which also provided financial support for EMMA). Further help was provided by the Diplomatic Advisor of the Ministry for Cultural Assets.
