SMAU: The MFA wins the Innovation Prize for its @doc project

At the SMAU Business 2012 fair, held in Rome on 21 and 22 March 2012, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has won the ICT 2012 Innovation award in the “Electronic Billing and Dematerialisation” category. The project selected for the award was “@doc”, a computerised file-management platform produced by the Ministry.

Extending the digitalisation of document flows to the entire Foreign Ministry has made it possible to improve efficiency and transparency, and to achieve a reliable and significant reduction in file handling times and operating costs (electricity, print-outs, photocopies, toner, etc). The use of paper has also been drastically reduced.

The prize was awarded by the Councillor for Economic Activities of Roma Capitale, Davide Bordoni. The candidate projects were over 110 in number, of which 19 were selected as finalists. This is the second award to the @doc project, following on from the prize won at FORUMPA 2011 for the “Less Paper, More Value” project.

SMAU Business’s target audience is first and foremost the private sector. This makes the MFA’s award even more significant, in a highly competitive sector with high levels of operational efficiency and cost reduction.
