Europe and the Arab Springs: a conference at the Alcide De Gasperi Foundation

“The European Union and the social and political stabilisation strategies of the Mediterranean’s non-European countries”. That is the second annual discussion of the Alcide De Gasperi Foundation – Konrad Adenauer Stiftung taking place today, Wednesday 18 April 2012, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano. The event is being held in the Zuccari room at the Italian Senate’s Palazzo Giustiniani, in Rome.


Participants in the discussion will include the Speaker of the Senate, Renato Schifani; the President of the Alcide De Gasperi Foundation, Franco Frattini; the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Marta Dassù; the former President of the Lebanese Republic and current leader of the Kataëb Party, Amine Gemayel; the Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Rome, Katja Christina Plate; the Chairperson of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Elmar Brok; and the Director of the Europe/USA section of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Jens Paulus.
