The “Embassy Goes Contemporary” exhibition opens on 12 December 2012 at the Italian Embassy in Berlin. From 17 December until 28 April 2013, the historic salons of the Embassy will host 28 artworks from the Museion Collection in Bolzano, by 22 young Italian artists. The exhibition includes videos, installations, paintings and photography and is part of the extensive programme supported by the Italian Embassy and Cultural Institute in Berlin to promote Italian art. The show is a natural follow-up to the “Italiens” exhibitions, part of a project to promote the work of young Italian artists living in the German capital.
The Museion Collection in Bolzano
To follow on from the successful “Italiens” initiative, the Italian Embassy decided to invite our country’s institutions to present some of their artworks in Berlin. Bolzano’s Museion is the first to show some pieces from its collection of works by young artists, curated by the Museum’s director, Letizia Ragaglia, in the prestigious Tiergarten setting.
The Italian Embassy, a distinctive building in the heart of the Tiergarten park, is once again opening its doors and its salons to the experimental and at times provocative work of young artists. In so doing it has been transformed into an innovative contemporary art venue, where the works enter into a dialogue with history and with the Embassy building and its setting.
