Turkey – Major opportunities for Italian firms

The development of economic/trade relations between Italy and Turkey was the main focus of the 2013 “first business committee” meeting organised in Istanbul by the Embassy of Italy with the resident Italian business community. The meeting offered an opportunity to take stock of 2012’s total trade of nearly €20 billion, which, despite a slight dip, showed Italian exports holding their own. Italian business persons, Ambassador Gianpaolo Scarante explained, have confirmed the Turkish market’s importance to Italy along with the persistence of strong interests in its potential. Also presented was the embassy’s new economic communications plan: “More information, more opportunity”.
