Bratislava has fallen under Giuseppe Verdi’s spell as the city celebrates the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth. Verdi’s Requiem was performed in St. Martin’s Cathedral by Slovakian Radio’s Symphony Orchestra and Bratislava City Choir, conducted by Italian maestro Walter Attanasi. The concert was organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava with support from the Italian Embassy.
The celebrations will continue in June, with a Verdi Gala, to celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and the Slovak Republic.
