ISTANBUL – Debate on “how to invest in turkey”

“Investing in Turkey: experience and opportunities”. That’s the theme of a seminar organised by the economic-commercial office of the Italian Embassy in Turkey and taking place in Istanbul on 11 April 2013. The aim is to give participants an overview of the country and the opportunities it offers: from public procurement to investment.

The event will be introduced by the Italian Ambassador in Turkey, Gianpaolo Scarante. Other speakers include Derun Ulgen, representing Turkey’s Investment Support and Promotion Agency (ISPAT) and Massimo Deandreis, from the Intesa San Paolo Group’s southern Italy think tank (SRM Studi – Ricerche Mezzogiorno). The seminar will end with a debate and questions and answers from participants.

Trade growing

Turkey is one of the world’s leading countries in terms of GDP growth. Trade with Italy is growing this year, after slackening off in 2012. In February, Italy was Turkey’s 5th commercial partner, with trade amounting to 2.9 billion dollars (up 2.2%). In 2012 we were in sixth place, with a fall in trade of 7.4%.
