Candidate for 2019 European Capital of Culture
Urbino, the painter’s native city, and Sofia and the Southwest Region are both candidates for 2019’s European Capital of Culture. A memorandum of cultural cooperation was signed this past June between Italy’s Marches Region and Urbino and the Southwest Region, which outlines a list of shared events that will include exhibits and concerts aimed at promoting creative development and exchanges of ideas between the artists and young people of both regions.
