Italy and Saudi Arabia celebrate 80 years of diplomatic relations in Rome on 3 October during the Italo-Saudi Arabian Forum, co-chaired by Minister Emma Bonino and her Saudi colleague HRH Prince Saud Al-Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud that will be followed by a joint press conference.
The forum will include the official “twinning” of the Saudi foreign ministry’s research institute and Italy’s International Affairs Institute (IAI).Also planned within the context of the bilateral forum is a meeting at the foreign ministry in Rome between delegations of university students from both countries that will be introduced by MFA Director General for Country Promotion Ambassador Andrea Meloni.
Pistelli, very solid relations
“Relations between Italy and Saudi Arabia are very robust on both political and economic planes”, said Deputy Foreign Minister Lapo PIstelli, who spoke at the opening of the showcase in Rome’s Piazza del Popolo set up for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Italo-Saudi foreign relations. “Saudi Arabia is obviously the leading Gulf country and a point of reference for European countries, the West and for the United States. It is a very solid point of reference for the Italian economy, for those great champions, those major firms that see Saudi Arabia as pivotal to collaboration in trade and technology”, Pistelli concluded.
