Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Mario Giro today hailed the conversion into law of a culture bill that earmarks resources for the UNESCO Forum on Cultural Industries scheduled to take place in Florence in 2014.
“My congratulations to Parliament and to Minister Bray” Under-Secretary Giro said. “The Florence event, which will take place during our European presidency, will be an excellent showcase within which to promote our know-how, artisanship and design excellence”.
“We will be making this pledge at the next UNESCO General Assembly. As a government we are committed to making this an annual event and to making it a resource for all Italian cities; in 2015 we will be tapping the synergies of EXPO Milano. Now it is time to set up a coordination committee involving the foreign and culture ministries, the City of Florence and UNESCO”, Giro concluded.
