The 5th edition of the United Nations’ most extensive diplomatic simulation in Italy and in Europe for University students – RomeMUN (Rome Model United Nations) – will take place from 13 to 17 March 2014. A diplomacy simulation game whose young participants play the part of UN diplomats over 5 days of sessions and negotiations to resolve some of the most important issues on the international community’s agenda. This year it will also have the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ sponsorship and its main theme will be new strategies for economic and social development across the planet: “Beyond 2015: a new agenda for development”.
1500 delegates from 100 countries
As has been the case with previous editions, next March’s promises to be a packed one, with nearly 1500 participants from 100 countries on 5 continents, who will meet in Rome to simulate the work that goes on at the UN in New York. A unique opportunity not only to gain first hand experience of multilateral diplomacy but also to meet others of the same age from around the world in a veritable melting pot of cultures and nations. And for the 2014 edition, thanks not least to a contribution from the Luiss Guido Carli University, 150 bursaries will be made available for the full or partial coverage of registration and lodging expenses. The bursaries will be given partly to students at Italian universities and partly to foreign university students. Registration is open through 8 December.
