Financial Police briefing with experts accredited to diplomatic missions abroad
Briefing-day and conference on intellectual property rights and measures to combat forgery
The Guardia di Finanza, or Financial Police Corps, held a briefing-day and conference on “Intellectual Property Rights and Combating Forgery”, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event was organised by Francesca Guariglia, from the Directorate General for Global Affairs. Speakers from the Financial Police included Colonel Antonio Leone, head of the international relations office, and Lieutenant Colonel Andrea Palandri, liaison officer at the MFA. The day opened with a welcome address by the head of the Ministry’s liaison unit, Luigi Vignali.
Operational cooperation with similar organisations abroad.
The Financial Police are increasingly engaged in combating economic and financial crime. They have entrusted to officers seconded to diplomatic missions abroad the task of promoting and implementing forms of operational cooperation with similar organisations abroad.
The aim is to combat economic and financial crime and protect the national and European Union budgets. In 2003, the Corps set up a network of experts that has become a key element in gathering crime detection intelligence abroad and combating international tax evasion and avoidance.
