Farnesina – New “International Treaty Database” now online

The new version of the International Treaty Database portal (called “ATRIO”) is now online. It can be reached from the Legal Affairs section of the MFA website and from the Database section of the Intranet/Extranet, as well as from http://atrio.esteri.it


New features


ATRIO now has a new design that harmonises with the MFA website and follows the recommendations of the Secretariat General and the Press Service. For external users, the search function has been simplified and expanded, with the addition of different search options and combinations. The precision of the search function has also been improved by enabling users to select between countries and international organisations. Data insertion by internal users has been simplified, while the server back-up system adopted means that files can be stored more securely.


A service for citizens


The new ATRIO portal replaces ITRA, the previous version. It is the result of a collaborative effort to combine information technology and legal content without interrupting the service to users, who appreciate the data shared on the MFA site. ATRIO aims to improve the service provided to citizens – businesses, professionals, students and research and information centres – and internal users.


Online consultation of data and texts relating to agreements currently in force in Italy has reduced the use of paper archives, making day-to-day work much easier. Storing and conserving the paper versions remains the task of the Legal Affairs section, as Treaty Depository for the Italian State
