The process of finding a solution to the Ukraine crisis cannot be launched without “an immediate ceasefire”. This priority was the central concern of Minister for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini’s mission to Kiev and Moscow, which she shared with Ukraine leaders and now with Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, ahead of her meeting today at the Kremlin with President Vladimir Putin.
Joint press Conference
In a joint press conference with her Russian colleague, Minister Mogherini said that Italy and Russia “insist strongly on the need for an immediate unconditional ceasefire”. In particular, Mogherini expressed her appreciation for Russia’s agreeability at the Berlin meeting and toward the idea of OSCE-led border management.
