Uruguay: ENEL GP gives green light for construction of wind farm
Enel Green Power has given the go-ahead for the construction of its first wind farm in Uruguay in the Cerro Largo region, about 320 kilometres from the capital, Montevideo. With a projected 50 MW of installed capacity, the wind farm will be able to produce over 200 million kWh per year. An investment of around 98 million dollars is envisaged for the construction of the new plant.
The electricity generated by the wind farm will be sold by Administracio’n Nacional de Usinas y Trasmisiones Ele’ctricas (UTE), Uruguay’s state-run electricity transmission, distribution and sales company, under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement that has already been signed.
