The Italian Cultural Institiute of Tokyo will host a conference on September 1st entitled “Hasekura Tsunenaga, cittadino romano di Sendai”. The conference will focus on the facts surrounding the first Japanese diplomatic mission established in Italy 400 years ago by Hasekura, who has become a sort of icon for the ancient relations enjoyed by Italy and Japan and symbol of Italy’s solidarity with the people of Tohoku, victims of the catastrophe of 11 March 2011.
