Geneva – Italian Consul attends ceremony commemorating the Mattmark tragedy

The Consul General of Italy in Geneva, Andrea Bertozzi, has attended the ceremony marking the 49th anniversary of the Mattmark tragedy, which took the lives of 88 workers, 56 of them Italian. The workers died in an avalanche that overwhelmed the construction site of a dam being built in the Mattmark region, on 30 August 1965.

In his speech at the event, attended by about 100 Italians, Bertozzi underscored the sacrifices made by Italian workers abroad and thanked those who help keep their memory alive. Read more, in Italian
