The tender for Brazil’s 4th generation broadband frequencies has been concluded. TIM Brasil, controlled by Telecom Italia, won one of the 3 lots for national 4G coverage with a bid of 1.947 reais (630 million euros). The Italian group will be required to pay the Brazilian Government just 0.99% more than the asking price.
Telecom Italia has confirmed its intention to continue making large-scale investments in the Brazilian market, which has over 292 million mobile phones. This is a unique opportunity for the company to go on playing an important role in Brazil’s digital modernisation, in the development both of mobile broadband and of digital TV.
