Kyoto – Fosco Maraini exhibition “Ama” staged

An exhibition was staged in Japan of a photographic series by Fosco Maraini entitled “Ama”, which grew out of an anthropological study conducted in the 1950s on the community of underwater fisherwomen of the islands of Hegurajima and Mikuriyajima. Speakers at the event, one of the headliners of “Kyotographie”, included consul general of Italy in Osaka Marco Lombardi and Mieko Maraini, wife of Florence-born Fosco who lived and taught in Kyoto.
