Roma – Italian development cooperation has decided to allocate multilateral emergency funding of 500,000 euro to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to help the communities hit by the earthquake in the vast region between Afghanistan and Pakistan. About 300 died in the earthquake and over 2000 people were injured. The Italian cooperation funding will be used for search and rescue operations and to provide emergency accommodation and essential supplies.

The ICRC works in coordination with the delegations of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
