The signing ceremony for the contracts for the creation of the Liwa Plastic Industries Complex by Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries (Orpic) took place on 17 December 2015. The project includes an agreement worth over 890 million dollars between Orpic and the Italian Maire Tecnimont to build polymer facilities (polyethylene and polypropylene) for the new petrochemical complex. The complex, due for completion in 2019, will create 1000 direct jobs, with a further 24,000 in the construction sector once building work begins in 2016. Read more, in Italian.
