The Milan Furniture Fair was presented on Wednesday in Shanghai. The Fair will be held from 12 to 17 April 2016. In his speech, Italian Ambassador to China, Ettore Sequi, expressed the full support of Italy’s institutions for this important export event. Italy is China’s No. 1 furniture exporter with 300 million dollars worth of current exports . This figure is expected to rise by a further by 40 percent by 2019. The growth of the Italian furniture sector in China, supported by the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE), reflects a Chinese market whose consumers are increasingly sophisticated and interested in quality products, such as Italian ones.
Ambassador Sequi commented, “Italy does not produce design, Italy is design”.
The year 2016 will be very important for Italy-China relations in view of the “Road to 50”, that is, the celebrations in 2020 of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
